family-vacations-2Family vacations is something that I used to look forward to when I was a child. However, in today’s world family vacations can be really stressful. While it’s impossible to plan a completely stress-free vacation with young children, there are certainly many steps you can take to make it easier. The first of these steps is to take advantage of family vacation packages when they are available. These packages have something for everyone that includes the kids, which makes everyone happier.

If you just plan a regular vacation, you have to find things for both the kids and adults to do, which can be time consuming and tedious. With family vacation packages, you won’t have to find something for the kids and the adults to do. It is all taken care of so everyone can enjoy themselves together or apart. This makes planning family vacations lots of fun, and much easier. Family vacation packages also tend to be cheaper. Here are some ideas for these types of vacation deals.

* Rent an RV, or recreational vehicle. Lots of great memories await people opting for these types of family vacations. There is nothing like driving across country, or across state. Not to mention that this is a great vacation for children. Your family vacation package need not include hotel rooms or lots of restaurant expenses. You have your hotel and restaurant on wheels! You don’t even have the stress of stopping for the bathroom, which is a big plus for parents. RV family vacations mean you can see a lot of different areas without long, tedious car trips, too.

* Theme parks are fun for school-age children and teens. There is a reason why places like Six Flags, Disney Land, and Universal are busy all year round. Theme parks are family-vacations-3just plain fun and addictive. The children are thoroughly occupied and having fun, while the adults can enjoy the park’s food, scenery, shopping, and simply the joy their children are experiencing. Many theme parks include dramas and shows that appeal to adults and children alike. Family vacations to theme parks are almost guaranteed enjoyment.

* Ski vacations work well for families. If you and your family have a love for skiing or snowboarding, these types of family vacations are a must. Even if you’re just trying to get into the sport, there are many ski vacation packages that will fit the bill. Most resorts offer family package deals. You can rent a house or cabin on a ski vacation, which many families find much less stressful than staying in a hotel. And the view, do I really need to say anymore?

* A cruise can offer fun for everyone ifamily vacations 1n the family too. Cruises are a great way to get everything in one. Adults can enjoy the food, amenities, and shopping at ports while children can enjoy the pool, games, shows, and other activities. Many cruise lines offer vacation packages geared toward families. On a cruise, you need not worry about meals and accommodations, and many children find the idea of being on a boat very exciting. Some cruise lines offers tours of the ship which can be very exciting for kids and adults.

* Woods, nature, and hiking appeal to many children. So does camping. There is nothing quite like the great outdoors. Look into renting a rustic cabin for a weekend or longer. Check with your local (or wherever you want to vacation) tourist department to find out where the best getaway packages are in the area. Getting back to nature can be a great way of reconnecting with you family and enjoying a great vacation as well.

As you plan your different family vacations in the future, remember to arrange child-watching time with the other adults on the trip. Trying to figure out who watches the kids and who gets to relax on the go often results in stressed-out, frustrated parents and kids. So decide ahead of time how you will divvy up the time between the adults and children, and consider taking along a babysitter if you can. All in all, family vacation packages are a great way to have a wonderful vacation on a budget. You won’t regret doing it. Happy travels and remember, don’t just travel, Travel Well.

weekend getaway 3A weekend getaway can do wonders for the spirit. Because, let’s face it, sometimes you just need to get away. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery and a change of pace. That is what we did when we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Resort in Tampa Bay. It was September 9th 2016 and my wife, my sister, and I were all feeling the sting of everyday life and needed to refuel and reset. We decided that a trip to Tampa would be just the thing to do that.

It was far enough away to feel like you went somewhere yet not too far that you needed to catch a flight to get there. We started out on our journey at 8:30 pm. It was only supposed to be a four hour ride. We decided to take stops at rest stops along the way so that we don’t burn out any one driver. This turned out to be the wrong move. Every where that seemed like a rest stop just ended up being in town somewhere with those stores in strip mall of some kind.

We wasted a lot of time looking for a genuine rest area, without finding one. This weekend getaway was off to a great start. Are they all gone? It sure seemed like it on this trip. Needless to say, a four hour trip turned into a six hour trip. And to top matters off, we were stopped by a cop telling us to turn off our high beam lights while driving on the interstate. What? I thought that was when you were supposed to have them on. The officer told us that driving behind someone with your high beams on could cause accidents.

He also informed us that it would be a huge fine and at least 3 points on my license for doing so. He let me off with a warning as I promised to turn them off. By the time we arrived in Tampa, we were more than tired. Once we entered Tampa we headed for the hotel that we booked using TravelWell101.com of course. However, once we drove up to the place we weekend getaway 2booked, we soon realized the quality just wasn’t there.

We looked around the neighborhood and there were two strip clubs with minutes of each other. This was our indication that this was not quite the area we wanted to be in to recharge and refuel. We began to google four star hotels in the Tampa area. The first Hotel that popped up was the Grand Hyatt. And the best part, it was only 10 minutes away. So off we went to the Grand Hyatt. The pictures looked good online, but so did the hotel we booked earlier.

As we saw it from the interstate, we were impressed with the building alone. When we finally pulled up we were awe struck with the entrance of this beautiful hotel. The Grand in Grand Hyatt is not just for show. Finally this weekend getaway was taking a turn for the better. This hotel is truly grand. and the staff was just as grand. Selena was the person that checked us in and she was very kind and knowledgeable. First we told her that we saw a price online for $139 per night and she promptly checked and found it for us. We also asked for a room on the highest floor they had and she very kindly made it happen. We stayed on the highest floor they had. The 14th floor.

Once we arrived in our room, we found everything perfect and beautiful. We soon found out that we had Sonia (not sure of the spelling) to thank for such a beautiful room. There were no dust spots on any of the furniture. The bathroom was spotless and looked like no one had ever been in that room. To put it in plain English, the room was much more than we expected but not more than it should be for such a high class hotel.

weekend getaway 1The next day we got up and took a walk around the grounds and found it very peaceful and relaxing. We stopped by one of the pools and just relaxed. We asked for some ice cold water and got it right away with a smile. By the time we left the hotel to head home we were truly refreshed. This was certainly one of the best hotel experiences we have had and we will definitely be going back the next time we are in Tampa. The Grand Hyatt is just that, Grand. If you are looking for an upscale luxurious hotel to stay on your next vacation to Tampa, please go to the Grand Hyatt. You won’t regret it.

What a weekend. This was a weekend getaway we will not soon forget. Oh and don’t forget to ask for Selena. She’ll take care of your stay. Although I have a feeling all of the employees are like that. And if you are fortunate enough to have your room done by Sonia, you will have absolutely nothing to complain about. Remember don’t just travel, Travel Well.

saving moneySaving money while on vacation are two things that rarely go together. Let’s face it, shopping is very addictive normally, let alone on vacation. Most of the time, the household budget is sacrificed once you go shopping. And, most people throwing budgeting out the window while on vacation. Saving money while shopping should not give you headaches as long as you know how to budget. Vacations are the times when we want to forget about the cares of regular life and just have fun. And, that is possible while still keeping to a saving money frame of mind. To that end, here are the things that you need to remember when on vacation.

Six Tips For Saving money While Shopping On Vacation

1. Always remember to spend your money wisely whenever you go shopping on vacation. It is easy to get carried away and buy a bunch of useless items when on vacation. Have you ever said, “Oh I must have that.” Avoid impulse buys. Bring only the exact amount of money you need in buying your items. Meaning decide how much you will spend before you leave the hotel room. To ensure that you stick to it, make a list of the items that you are looking to purchase. And, if it’s not on the list once you leave the hotel room, DON’T buy it. Budgeting your money wisely like this will prevent you from buying things that are not that important. It will keep you from buying things that will only end up in a drawer or stuffed in your closet. This is your first step to saving money while shopping on vacation.

2. Another key to saving money while shopping on vacation is to compare prices from different stores before buying an item. You’re on vacation after all. You don’t need to rush. Therefore, do not limit yourself to just one store. There are stores that offer the same quality but can have a lower price. Don’t get caught up in the bogo’s stores may offer. Many stores raise the price of an item so that the sale price is the normal everyday price.  A smart thing you may do is to be attentive to the prices of the items that you buy regularly when shopping. There are instances that a store has an untimely changing of prices on different items.saving money

3. It is recommended that you do your shopping during the end of the season. Depending on when you travel, there may be ‘end of season’ prices on different items. Prices of many items, especially clothes, are very low and affordable during this time of the year. You may buy clothes in the months of August and September if you are looking for bargain clothes for your summer wear. Or May and June for discounted Spring clothing.

4. When you’re on vacation, no store is off limits. Shopping in dollar stores is a great way for saving money while on vacation. Different dollar stores around the country have different types of merchandise. If you’re traveling outside the United States, you may still find similar stores in you vacation destination. Dollar stores are the places where you can find items that are on sale and where prices are low. Although the quality of some items is not the same when you buy in malls and shopping galleries but the merchandises are still new and not yet used. These stores can provide you the best prices that can cope with on your budget.

5. Another way of saving money while shopping is to economize the travel you make in finding the stores you want to buy an item. Try to stay atsaving money a centrally located hotel. Hotels on the beach are nice and pretty. They tempt you with great views and vistas. The problem is that they know it may be too much trouble for you to go into town to get certain items, so they can raise prices as they see fit. A piece of clothing that may cost $5 in town, is $15 at the beach. You may take a stop on your daily route to check if the items you buy regularly have not changed their prices or are still in the price of your budget. You may purchase the item even before you do your shopping schedule. This can save you fuel and time.

6. Finally, try to find discount stores that offer quality items that have discounts and can offer a very affordable price on your desired item. The prices on discount stores may vary depending on the season of the year. These stores can be located in large shopping areas like in malls and shopping galleries. And remember, if you can’t get a item within your budget, it’s not the end of the world. Spend time enjoying your vacation with family and friends, not obsessing over prices.

Keep these six points in mind the next time you book  a vacation, and you will have a great time. Remember don’t just travel, Travel Well.

New York is one of the most famous and popular cities in the world today. It is also referred to as the ‘Big Apple’. The city stands tall with its many impressive skyscrapers and statues. It has a unique fast paced atmosphere that shouldn’t be missed. As you can imagine, New York has all kinds of accommodation that caters for a range of budgets. Many of the worlds most extravagant hotels can be found in New York.

Tips To Find the Ideal Hotel in New York

When choosing a hotel to stay in New York then, it’s imperative that you ask yourself the following questions so you can determine what place is ideal.

What part of New York do you plan to stay in?

New York can divided into several districts and these districts usually determine the range of hotel fees you’re going to encounter. Do you want your hotel to be situated in Manhattan, where most New York attractions can be found? If you want, however, to stay in a funky upbeat district then the hotels in Soho and Greenwich and the likes are probably what you’re looking for.

How much can you afford?

Now that we’ve got a specific location in mind, the next step to take is to count our available dollars. Hotels in New York range from the exorbitant to the wonderfully cheap. Naturally, the features are somewhat dependent on the price.

Who are you with?

If you’re bringing kids, then not all hotels in New York can of course, open their doors to welcome you. With children in tow, we can suggest hotels like the Doubletree Guest Suites and the Hilton Time Square, hotels that are both famous for reliable, warm and efficient service. And then there are the pets. If you’re the type to bring around your Dalmatian or Siamese with you wherever you go then the lists of prospective hotels in New York that you can stay on would narrow further. For travelers accompanied by their furry friends, try checking out hotels like 70 Park Avenue Hotel and Carlyle Hotel, which even offers dog-walking services just in case you find yourself busy touring New York City.

What features / services do you need?

If you’re on some sort of business trip, then definitely you’d prefer a hotel with Internet access. If you’re planning to host some sort of gathering then you’ll also be interested to check out hotel facilities and see what best suits the event you have in mind. Also, not all hotels in New York come with Olympic sized pools, Grade A spas and fitness centers so you must take all these things in consideration as you try hit upon the best place to stay in New York.

Recommended Hotels:
Before I launch on a list of New York City hotels that could interest you, first, I have to warn you that what’s termed as “affordable” in New York City may not be “affordable” in your vocabulary. So if you’re cash strapped, better check first if you’ve got some friends living in New York City who’d lend you a room for a week or two as you go sight-seeing. New York is a city of high rise towers and a number of those are hotels that you can take your pick of. These buildings range from the five star hotels to the funky ones to hotels with “affordable” packages.

Four Season Hotel:  If you’ve got kids, then you should consider staying in this kid-friendly hotel because guests under 18 can stay for free. The tallest hotel in New York City, it also provides its family guests with coloring books, a video lending library and welcome gifts for kids.

Soho Grand Hotel:  If you’re the type of traveler who can’t bear to leave your behind, have no fear because there are several hotels in New York that can accommodate furry guests, just like the Soho Grand Hotel. Upon checkout, you’ll even be given a goldfish to remember your New York holiday.

Affinia 50 Suites:  This particular hotel has no difficulties in landing a Top 10 spot in any survey when it comes to being the best hotel in New York City. Previously known as the Plaza 50 Suites, this is a no-fuss-comfort-zone for travelers who want basic accommodations that would also be easy on the pockets. Large suites equipped with kitchenettes are also available if you so prefer.

Hilton Time Square:  Never mind Paris Hilton and her notorious antics. At least her family still hasn’t stopped in being one of the best when you’re talking about hotel services. The Hilton Time Square is one of the poshest hotels in New York City, with a twenty-five-seater theater and even its own wax museum! And just because it’s posh, don’t assume that the staff would turn its nose up on noisy, bratty kids or dirty, scrambling house pets. Nuh-uh! The Hilton Time Square aims to please all forms of guests, human and non human, adult and kids.

1. Location, location, location. Just like in real estate – find out where you are going to be and what is available around you. Is the bus, train, highway near? Where are the shopping malls? How far is it to that temple you want to visit? Remember when reading through the hotel write-ups – not every hotel is “centrally” located. Avoid Khaosan Road unless you like backpackers.

2. Don’t be fooled by a name. Most of the hotels in Bangkok use the words “Grand”, “Boutique”, “Royal”, “Luxury”, “Executive” in the name of the hotel – so just because you booked a room at the Royal Grand Executive Luxury Boutique Service Apartments doesn’t mean the place will be royal, grand or any of the other words.

3. Ask your friends. If they have gone to Bangkok before, ask them where they stayed and get a recommendation. This doesn’t mean you have to stay there – but it should give you some ideas.

4. Shop around. The Internet is a wonderful place. Pop in the name of the hotel you want information on in Google, and you will see a myriad of info and a range of prices. Take good notes. Read actual reviews keeping in mind most people are more willing to write a negative report as opposed to a positive one.

5. Find a forum. There are many forums available on Thailand in general and Bangkok specifically. Most will let you read the info without registering but if you want to post a question you will have to register. A good place to get very current information.

6. Is it near the “action”? Bangkok is infamous for its nightlife and you may or may not want to be close. Most nightlife is centered on Patpong Road (between Silom and Surawongse roads), Nana Entertainment Plaza (Sukhumvit and Soi 4), and Soi Cowboy (near Soi Asoke). So these are the areas to either avoid or make your reservations.

7. Sukhumvit is a very long road. Your friend recommends a hotel on Sukhumvit road but can’t remember which Soi (small street or alley) it is on. So, based on her recommendation, you book a room on Sukhumvit and Soi 103 only to realize it is a gazillion miles from anything. If you want to be centrally located – find a place off Sukhumvit between Sois 1 and 23.

8. What else is included? Free breakfast? Free Wireless? Transportation to and from the airport? Cable, Satellite, DVD, International Direct Dial (IDD) phone? Check to see what is and what is not included.

9. Is there a joiner fee? For the single guys who may bring back a guest for the evening, some hotels charge ridiculous amounts of Baht for having a guest. Best to ask first, and then avoid. You may be able to beat this if you book a double – but it isn’t worth the hassle.

10. You get what you pay for. Don’t expect Marriott service at a flea bag. We all want value for our money – but if you go cheap – don’t expect much. Look for a mid-range priced hotel – around USD $50 per night and you should be satisfied. Bangkok, and all of Thailand, has different prices for different times of the year – high and low season. Check the listed prices carefully.

11. Have fun and smile. Remember – you are in a foreign country and they may not do things like they do back home. Keep your cool, avoid arguing and smile. If you have a problem, ask for the manager and explain it with calm words and a pleasant tone. Yelling and screaming will get you nowhere in the Land of Smiles.

12. Online consolidators can often beat the price of a direct booking.

13. You don’t land at Don Muang Airport any more. Bangkok has a relatively new airport – Suvarnabhumi – about 50 kilometers further south than Don Muang. Plan your airport hotel accordingly.

14. Don’t expect the hotel staff to be fluent in your language. Most will speak English to a degree. Get a dictionary and learn a bit of Thai.
